Ella Langley Covers First #1 Song By A Female Country Artist

Ella Langley is breaking all kinds of records in music.  So, it's only fitting that she honored the First Woman to have a Number One Hit on The Billboard Country Music Charts, Kitty Wells!  On her album 'Dandelion', Ella recorded a new version of 'It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels', with a traditional retro-vibe.  The bonus track is a great discovery for new Country Music fans that may never had heard of the historic recording.

'It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels' was written and recorded as an answer song to Hank Thompson's 'The Wild Side Of Life'.  At the time the song came along, Kitty Wells was frustrated with her recording career.  The music industry was dominated by men, and it was rare to see a female solo artist on the charts, or headlining her own show.  Due to the obstacles, she was considering walking away from a career in Country Music. Then, she had the chance to sing this song, later admitting she just recorded the track for the paycheck!  At that recording session, Kitty had no idea that little song would forever change her life and knock down the door for Women in Country Music! In the process, singing an anthem for Women, in a time when they needed a louder voice, and encouraging other female entertainers to push forward.  Met with a little resistance from the male dominated charts, Kitty Wells, and her followers, pushed the song to the top!  The milestone helped her earn the crown as 'The Queen of Country Music',  as she entered the history books as the first Woman to reach Number One on the Billboard Country Charts in 1952.

Ella's tribute will introduce Kitty's story to a new generation of Country Music fans! Along the way, maybe a few more people might discover and appreciate the long lost voices of Kitty Wells and Hank Thompson.
