Dolly : A True Original Musical On Broadway

Dolly Parton's new musical is headed to Broadway in December 2026! After a run of sold-out previews in Nashville, the show is making the big move to the Big Apple! Dolly's first Broadway run came in 2009, as the writer and lyricist of the musical version of the hit movie '9 to 5'.  The show continues to be a fan favorite in Nationwide tours, and the soundtrack is a must for any 'ultimate' Dolly fan!

Now, Dolly's own story comes to life in 'Dolly : A True Original Musical'. The show will be packed with Dolly Parton classics like 'I Will Always Love You' '9 To 5' 'Jolene' and 'Coat Of Many Colors', in addition to new original songs specifically written for the show. Dolly will turn 80 when the show 'officially' opens, and she tells Country Now: "I wanted to tell it while I was still living. And, I could get it out there the way that I wanted it done. And so I thought it was a good story."

The musical will feature 3 'Dolly' actresses, each one representing a phase of her career. In addition, well-known characters associated with her career; like Porter Wagoner, Kenny Rogers, Uncle Bill Phillips, friend Judy Ogle, and late husband Carl Dean will all be represented. Dolly explained more to People magazine:

“It's got a lot of good country music in it, lot of good country stories, but it also has a lot of the big orchestration, all the things that I've always dreamed about having my songs and stories on stage and telling my life story. I waited for a while till I was this old so I could tell it so, so I could tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth — So, help me, Lord!”
