With Thanksgiving approaching, it's time to start thawing your turkey. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends safe methods for thawing your bird, including refrigerator thawing, cold water thawing, and microwave thawing. Refrigerator thawing is the most recommended method, taking about one day for every four to five pounds of weight. Cooking a frozen turkey is also safe, but it will take longer to cook. Use a food thermometer to ensure the turkey reaches 165˚F in the innermost parts before serving.
