The Blue Streaks will play in only their 2nd ever State Championship game

The Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks are doing something they haven't done in 10 years, play in a state championship in Syracuse.

This feat was accomplished as the Blue Streaks jumped out to a first half and never collapsed as they held off Mamaroneck 28-14 on Saturday night in the Class AA State Semifinals in Middletown.

It's the first trip to the championship game for Saratoga Springs since 2015, when their magical run came to an end at the JMA Wireless Dome as they couldn't keep up with Aquinas Institute from the Rochester area, falling 44-19.  It was the only time in school history that they have reached the title game.

The Blue Streaks will face powerhouse Christian Brothers Academy of Syracuse, who has won two straight titles.

But Saratoga Springs has been defying the odds all postseason long.  The Blue Streaks had to win on the road at rivals Shenendehowa in the semifinals of the Section 2 Class AA bracket before stunning the defending sectional champions and other Christian Brothers Academy -- of Albany, in the Sectional Championship.

The Blue Streaks won over Middletown in the Regional Finals to make it to the state semifinals.

It's the latest in a great 2025 for Saratoga Springs High School.  In the Spring, the baseball team went on to win the Class AAA State Championship out in Binghamton.   The winter saw the school win state championships in Boys Alpine Skiing team competition, and the Girls Nordic 3x3K relay.  The school is also a part of the Adirondack United girls hockey team, who repeated as State Regional Championships in Utica in February.

Game time for the State Championship is 6PM on Saturday, at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse. The game will stream on the subscription service NFHSNetwork.com.
