A detour will be in place for Route 2 during the two night closure.
UPDATE: Due to inclement weather Latham Circle closure has been postponed and overnight pavement repairs will now occur May 7 and 8
The New York State DOT is advising travelers in Albany County that the roundabout at the intersection of Routes 2 and 9, known as Latham Circle, is closing to traffic for two consecutive nights starting Tuesday, May 6th Wednesday, May 7th, while road crews repair pavement on the circle.
The closure will be from 10pm to 5am, and a signed detour will be in place taking traffic onto Delatour Road, Route 155 (Watervliet Shaker Road) and Interstate 87 around the work zone. While Route 9, which goes under the circle appears to remain open, delays may occur on that stretch of road.
The closure was supposed to begin Tuesday, but rainy weather prompted the delay of one night.
Route 2 connects the City of Watervliet with the Northway, and extends further via Route 7 to Schenectady.
Motorists should anticipate travel delays and build extra travel time into their schedule. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
