The explosion happened in Poughkeepsie on Saturday!
On Saturday afternoon a woman and two children were walking along Academy Street in Poughkeepsie when a manhole exploded sending slabs of concrete and debris in the air.
If you watch the video below, you'll see just how close they came to being injured or even worse as the explosion occurs. First responders were on the scene within 3 minutes of the blast being reported. After some investigation, they were able to detect that there were very high levels of explosive gases below the crater left from the explosion.
Multiple near by buildings were evacuated due high levels of carbon monoxide.
Thankfully police were able to catch up with the woman in the video and found that no injuries occurred.
Turns out that this was one of three similar incidents over the weekend in Poughkeepsie.
