Quick thinking canine may have prevented a tragedy
A house fire in Guilderland could have been much worse had it not been for the family dog. NewsChannel 13 spoke to the homeowner who told them their dog was the first to alert the family something was wrong. It happened around 5:30am when the dog came running down the stairs.
The homeowner's son eventually located a small fire in the attic near an air conditioning unit. Crews from several departments helped put the fire out - everyone in the family got out safely, though the son who located the fire was said to have suffered minor injuries.
