This comes in anticipation of increased traffic in an already busy area.
A busy intersection in Clifton Park will soon be getting a makeover. Where Clifton Park Center Road meets Sitterly Road already has a stoplight in place. Currently at the intersection is a Stewart's Shop, Ellis Urgent Care Center and the southeast entrance to Clifton Park Center Mall. Bass Pro Shop is expected to begin construction on its first store in the Capital Region in the same area.
The project will eliminate the stoplight and replace it with a single lane roundabout. In addition, new sidewalks and pedestrian crossing lanes will be put along Sitterly Road.
A 3.4 million dollar grant from the New York State Department of Transportation was given to the town for the project. No official word yet on when construction will begin.
